It was a good away win against a Malton 3 team that were hit by the cold/Flu season that we are seeing. It was a 4-1 victory and also marked the return of Michael McHaffie (who played for York RI for years back in the day). Chris played well at 5 but lost 3-1 against…
The first home game of the season and it was a tight victory to the RI (3-2).
Wednesday night was the annual RI Club Championship. And before we go into details I should start with congratulations to Drew who was the winner!!! A massive thanks also goes out to Perry for helping with marking even though he was injured and to Ian for organising. Before we even started there was the mystery…
The tragic trend of home defeats was continued with this game. With Ian’s continued injury we all played up a level against a strong TLD team. Sam made the long trek over from Kanresborough to play and he lost in a close 3-2 match. At the same time Richard got the RI’s only victory which…
It finally happened….York RI home record of winning final succumbed to York 8 with a 4-1 loss. It was an injury depleted performance (the Ange Postecoglou excuses are coming out) with Ian not able to play because of Tennis Elbow, Jess played but with a dodgy neck and Richard did a calf injury while playing….
Another disappointing away performance from the York RI team going down to a 4-1 loss at Pocklington. The victory for Pocklington was even more impressive given that they have fallen on such hard times over there with no running water and not enough money to book courts for long enough….I heard Lenny Henry is on…
This was a tricky away Sunday evening fixture for the first game back after Christmas and I certainly felt the impact of too much celebrating over the festive period. The result was a 3-2 victory to Dunnington with the two victories coming from Ian and Richard. Richard’s game was, by all accounts, the politest game…
Another home victory for York RI which had one clear outstanding highlight – the return to team competition of Richard Dawson after a 15 year absence!! The team from Wigginton were youngsters which was great to see and we all know that in a few years time they will be beating us so we need…
Unfortunately Christian was ill (I suspect it was illness caused by emotional outpouring from his first victory) so we headed to Kirkbymoorside with just 3 players. My start was not very auspicious as I’d forgotten to bring any shorts so had to play in the tracky bottoms I’dd worn there 😞. Luckily I still managed…
A great home victory for York RI against Malton 3 with the clear highlight being Christian’s first victory in team squash. The evening started with a victory for myself and Jess. I think I was let off lightly as Nick had recently torn his abductor (I think it was that) so his mobility was limited….
