York 8 vs York RI 2

The challenging start to the season for RI2 continued with a game away at York 8 last night, an experienced team which came a close 3rd in the league last year behind the 2 promoted teams.

Jess made a fast start but was up against a really strong player in Julia and ended up going down 1-3.

Nathan had a high octane match. Close games but unfortunately lost 0-3.

Chris⁩ gave everything in a classic 5-game battle of the hard-hitters but unfortunately went down 2-3.

James played a really tidy and controlled game, and proved himself absolutely impossible to lob. A classy 3-0 win.

Finally, A game of fine margins for Perry, who was moving really well on court. Great quality squash, but a close 0-3 defeat.

Overall a 4-1 defeat, but another 6 points on the board in the league.

Followed by a good debrief at the great facilities York have, which included a brief history of the RI building from ex-RI legend Phil.

Lots of positives to take away from our first couple of matches. It’s been great to get most of the squad playing already. Hopefully everyone’s enjoyed the first couple of rounds and has taken away some useful things to improve upon.

A couple of weeks off for us now before we play the mysterious “Barbarians”
